Today ( 22 March 2008 ) the Lost Falcon Center had its first success story.
One of the falconers joined The Lost Falcon Center when their Female FerruginousHawk escaped from their premessis on the 12 March 2008
Today whilst out looking for the FerruginousHawk the falconer found his FerruginousHawk
Having been out for 8 days, the FerruginousHawk had been feeding, but had lost weight. The falconer was going about his duties when the FerruginousHawk swooped for his gloved fist, ( At the time he was flying his Harris Hawk )
However, the Harris Hawk scared the FerruginousHawk off, which then flew off again and once again got blown by the strong wind over trees.
The falconer returned home with his Harris hawk and went looking for the FerruginousHawk once again.
In the falconers own words...
SHE IS HOME SAFE AND SOUND, a little down on her weight but nothing too bad only 5oz
...I First saw her when out this morning doing a hawk walk with some people, she tried to come down to the fist but my male harris hawk ( Flash ) kepted getting in the way, well the wind caught her again and pushed her over the woods, I lost sight of her again...
.....I had Jackie help track her down again and on returning to my car I found her sitting in a tree above the car, I showed her the fist and straight down she came....
.....The FerruginousHawk IS HOME SAFE AND SOUND, back where she belongs, a special thanks to The Lost Falcon Center and their search members for all the miles covered in looking for and helping me find my FerruginousHawk.
Since loosing his FerruginousHawk, Andrew has now become a mod on The Lost Falcon Center team.
If you would like to share in the great feeling of re uniting falconers with their lost birds of prey, maybe because you have lost your bird of prey or because you love the feel good feeling, why not become a valued member of The Lost Falcon Team?
